DomainPeople conducts Canadian contest
By Adnews Staff
Vancouver-based Internet domain name registrar DomainPeople has begun a promotion called the "Tell us About Your .CA Contest." The contest is aimed at the owners of websites using the dot-ca domain name extension. Entries can be submitted online at <http://www.domainpeople.ca/heycanada.html> until the end of the month. Winners will be selected based on the creativity of their website goals and how their domain name is helping to achieve those. Winners will be chosen in three categories: large sites, small sites and new site proposals. First prize is an Apple IPad 2. Second prize is one year of free web hosting from DomainPeople plus a dot-ca domain name for 10 years. Third prize is six months of free hosting plus a dot-ca domain name for five years. "Having a dot-ca domain name is like waving the Canadian flag," said Chris Kruk, product manager at DomainPeople. "It clearly states that you, your business or your organization are Canadian, and research has shown that it makes a difference in how your site is perceived. We are running this contest to raise awareness of the value of the dot-ca extension and to share the successes that people are having in choosing dot-ca over other options."
