The Toronto Tempest readies debut issue

A digital magazine called The Toronto Tempest will launch tomorrow. The bi-monthly publication, which is formatted for tablet computers and smartphones, will cover politics and culture. Aimed primarily at readers in Toronto and elsewhere in Canada, the publication will be distributed through the Apple App store and the Google Marketplace. The magazine also has a website at . "The Tempest is a natural development in the magazine world," said co-editor James Burrows. "Until the tablet, the costs of launching an independent magazine were prohibitive. We expect to be the first of many new, young, and interesting magazines that take advantage of this space. Because we're exclusively digital, The Tempest will feature the same high quality design consumers expect from print magazines but will also include interactive content, audio materials and videos."
