STAR GROUP EXPANDS KIOSK NETWORK TO U.S.

Star Group Newspaper Networks Inc. announced Tuesday it is expanding it's Toronto-based The Kiosk Network (TKN Canada) to the U.S. with a subsidiary located in New York, NY. The Kiosk Network provides on-line interactive merchandising systems that allow marketers to deliver products, information and services through a worldwide network of electronic self-serve shopping kiosks. The North American market potential for on-line interactive merchandising is estimated at 500,000 units installed by 1999, with 450,000 of those to be located in the U.S. Eventual industry revenue is estimated at $10 billion. TKN Canada CEO John Salowski told Adnews yesterday that there is no advertising done for the kiosks in either Canada or the U.S.
