ORCA BAY TO RESTRUCTURE RETAIL CHAIN
By Adnews Staff
Orca Bay Sports & Entertainment of Vancouver is planning to restructure its Winning Spirit men's and women's clothing chain because some of the stores aren't doing very well, communications and community investment vice-president Kevin Gass told Adnews this week. When asked if the company would increase its advertising spending for Winning Spirit, Gass said the company would look at everything and that it was a possibility. Gass wouldn't say what the current advertising budget for Winning Spirit is, but he did say the budget was "modest." Advertising for Orca Bay's Winning Spirit chain is done by Glennie Stamnes Strategies of Vancouver. Other restructuring options that will be looked at over the next "several months" include franchising, contracting or closing some locations. Orca Bay has six Winning Spirit locations in B.C. Orca Bay also owns the General Motors Place arena in Vancouver, the NBA Vancouver Grizzlies and the NHL Vancouver Canucks. Palmer Jarvis Advertising of Vancouver handles advertising for the Grizzlies. Glennie Stamnes creates ads for the Canucks.
