Advertising Standards Canada releases 2010 report
By Adnews Staff
Advertising Standards Canada has released its Ad Complaints Report for 2010. The report provides information about consumer complaints submitted to the organization last year for review under the Canadian Code of Advertising Standards. Consumers submitted 1,200 complaints about 743 ads, of which the organization determined that 58 ads contravened the code. Retail advertising garnered 259 complaints, the largest number in any category. "Consumers continue to scrutinize advertising with a critical eye and inform us when they feel advertising is inaccurate or misleading," said Janet Feasby, vice-president of standards. "This is particularly true in today's environment of value-driven consumers." The full report is available at the Advertising Standard Canada website at <http://www.adstandards.com>.
