TOY CHAIN TARGETS WOULD-BE PARENTS
By Adnews Staff
Toys 'R' Us stores in Canada are aiming for more business from expectant parents. The company started increasing its nursery furniture stock last week. It has always sold some items, but they were geared to the lower end of the market. Now the stores are selling more and pricier goods. The move was made to re-build a shrinking market share. Toys 'R' Us' worldwide revenue dropped 10% in the first quarter of 1995. Advertising for the nursery goods began last week using a catalogue and radio ads created in-house. There are one million catalogues being mailed to homes, and distributed in Toys 'R' Us outlets, as well as in Shirley K and Thyme maternity stores.
