GILLETTE INTRODUCES PITCHING CONTEST
By Adnews Staff
Gillette Canada of Montreal launched a promotional contest late last month in which the winners will get a chance to win $250,000. Called the Gillette $250,000 Triple Play Challenge, participants enter by mailing in the official entry form. Three winners will be chosen to spend a week in Toronto to attend various sporting events and to participate in a pitching contest for cash. The winners will participate in a 10-foot baseball pitch for $10,000, a 20-foot baseball pitch for $20,000, and one of the winners will pitch a ball from the mound at the Skydome for a chance to win $100,000. Each winner will also receive a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire. Advertising to promote the contest uses TV and point-of-sale materials. It was created in-house by Gillette. PR is being done by Spectrum Public Relations of Toronto. The spokesperson for the contest is baseball veteran Sparky Anderson.
