Grand & Toy conducts A Day Made Better promotion

Office supply company Grand & Toy conducted a national series of events called "A Day Made Better" this week, intended to recognize 12 outstanding Canadian teachers. Each selected teacher received $2,000 in school supplies as well as an ergonomic chair. Teaching staff and parents were able to nominate teachers in their community who "exhibited innovation, passion and creativity in the classroom" by visiting the company's website. Winning teachers were chosen in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Nova Scotia and Quebec. "The program has two goals," said Kevin Edwards, vice-president of marketing at Grand & Toy. "First, it gives the teaching community, parents and students a chance to recognize and thank outstanding teachers who go above and beyond the call of duty. But the donation of school supplies is meant to aid teachers' growing out-of-pocket expenses-especially for those in less affluent areas of the country."
