Canwest specialty station FoodTV has launched a website for a new series called The 100 Mile Challenge. The program will follow six families who will attempt to consume only food and drink produced within 100 miles of where they live for 100 days. The website, located at <http://100mile.foodtv.ca>, encourages visitors to do the same by providing recipes accompanied by lists of local sources for the ingredients based on the visitor's location. The site will also offer video of the episodes of the series. "The 100mile.foodtv.ca companion site is the largest developed, wholly interactive site that foodtv.ca has been a part of," said Paul Burns, vice-president of digital media. "The site provides the opportunity for users to take what they've watched and learned on The 100 Mile Challenge and create their own food experience online. It connects users with their peers, farmers, grocers and experts in the local food movement, developing a community encompassing people and ideas from across the country." The site was produced by Foodtv.ca in association with Paperny Films and designed by Mod7 Communications of Vancouver. The site is being promoted with television commercials and online ads across various Canwest properties.
