ELECTRONICS CHAIN MAY NEED AGENCY

Power Plus Corp. of Sarasota, Florida will open its first two Powerful Stuff stores on July 15, and may look for an agency early next year after it opens more outlets, chief operating officer Tom Alison told Adnews yesterday. The two stores will be in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Mississauga, Ont. The company plans to opening 50 outlets in North America by the end of the year. The stores sell electronic products such as pagers, cellular phones, calculators, electronic organizers and batteries. Advertising for the outlets will begin during the Christmas season or possibly in 1997. It will be created in-house until the company decides whether to hire an agency or keep tdoing he job itself. If it does decide to hire outside help, it will likely hire one agency for the Canadian market and one for the U.S. market, Alison said. The stores will be concentrated in Florida and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the U.S. and in the Toronto area, Manitoba and B.C. in Canada. Power Plus plans to open 1,000 stores by the year 2000.
