Great Western Brewing begins Big Things campaign

The Great Western Brewing Company of Saskatoon has begun a summer advertising campaign focusing on "Big Things" to see on the Prairies. The radio campaign will feature 11 large-sized roadside attractions, including a statue of a Ukrainian girl, burrowing owls, survey markers, a coffee pot, a moose statue, a porcupine statue and a bull statue. The radio ads were recorded on location at each attraction and consist of interviews with local experts. "We're not quite sure why people create big things to put on the side of the road, but we want to celebrate the big spirit that compels them to do it," said Ron Waldman, president and CEO of Great Western Brewing. "These markers are sometimes beautiful and sometimes a bit odd. But they all tell a great story about the big pride we have here on the Prairies. It's that kind of spirit that inspires us to make our premium beers." The campaign also includes Internet advertising. Consumers are invited to visit Greatwesternbrewing.com to submit descriptions of the big things in their own towns, which the company plans to possibly use in next year's campaign. The campaign was developed by St. Bernadine Mission Communications of Vancouver.
