U.S.-based Compaq Computer Corp. is introducing two new families of notebook computers to the worldwide market next month called the Armada 1100 and 4100. The low-end 1100 family comes in two models using 100 megahertz Pentium processors and 810 megabyte hard drives. Both have eight megabytes of memory, upgradeable to 24. The 10.4 inch color screen comes as either dual scan or active matrix. The 4100 line is a family of five mid-priced computers. The multimedia machines are 1.5 inches thick and weigh five pounds. With an integrated diskette drive they weigh six pounds. The machines come with either 133, 120 or 100 megahertz Pentium processors, upgradeable hard drives and either eight or 16 megabytes of memory, expandable to 40 or 48. In Canada, national print advertising for the machines will begin sometime in the third quarter. It will be created by Ammirati & Puris/Lintas of Toronto.
