The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission has scheduled a hearing for Feb. 11, 2008 on the application of Vancouver-based HDTV Networks to operate a national over-the-air high-definition broadcast service. The company, which applied for the licence one year ago, has proposed stations in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Halifax. "Canadians deserve the latest innovative technology in television programming which they will be able to access from us for free," said company CEO John Bitove. "The HD format is the new generation of broadcasting and we are keen to deliver the benefits that only HD technology provides." HDTV Networks is a subsidiary of CSR Investments.
