Blockbuster Canada releases new commercial

Toronto-based Blockbuster Canada has released a new television commercial called "Christmas Dinner." The ad promotes the chain's new "Movie Buyers Bonus" loyalty program. The 30-second commercial, developed by DDB Canada of Toronto, depicts a family dinner during which the participants reference 35 well-known movies through either their words or actions. "We purposely layered in as many movie references as possible to add to the entertainment value of the spot," says Andrew Simon, creative director of the agency. "It's a great challenge for real film enthusiasts." This is the first original creative work that DDB has done for Blockbuster since becoming its agency of record in June.
