Fort McMurray Tourism begins Newfoundlanders campaign

Fort McMurray Tourism, in association with Travel Alberta North and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, has begun an advertising campaign intended to increase the number of visitors from Newfoundland to the city of Fort McMurray, AB. The campaign, developed by Grey Vancouver, consists of print and radio advertising, as well as sponsorships and a website at <http://www.whereyouat.ca>. "Fort McMurray is unique in Alberta in that almost 35 percent of the population is originally from Newfoundland and Labrador," said Helen Daymond, executive director of Fort McMurray Tourism. "A lot of the people who have decided to come to Fort McMurray to work and live still have friends and family in Newfoundland and Labrador. We wanted to encourage transplanted Newfoundlanders to invite their friends and family out for a visit and show them first hand what a great place Fort McMurray is to live, play and work." The campaign also includes a contest, the winner of which will receive a trip for two to Fort McMurray.
