TELESAT GETS OUTSIDE PR HELP
By Adnews Staff
Ottawa-based Telesat Canada recently decided its public relations job is too big to handle in-house, so the broadcast satellite company gave the job to Environics Communications of Toronto. Telesat has restructured and now has less staff to do the job, spokesperson Marilynn Wright told Adnews last week. In addition, the company is launching four new direct broadcast satellites between 1996 to 1998 in collaboration with U.S.-based Tele-Communications and TelQuest Ventures L.L.C. Because of this Telesat will have constant dealings with the media, said Wright. Environics was chosen after the company spoke to several agencies because "it has a good working knowledge of the satellite industry." Environics did a project for Telesat last September. The company's advertising is handled in-house with the help of freelancers.
