SUN PUBLISHING CHIEF LEADS BUY-OUT ATTEMPT

Toronto Sun Publishing president Paul Godfrey and vice-president Trudy Eagan resigned from the newspaper chain's board last week to head up an employee buy-out bid. Although no longer directors, the two will remain in their management positions. The Sun was founded 25 years ago by 63 former employees of the defunct Toronto Telegram. The company publishes Sun tabloids in Toronto, Ottawa, Edmonton and Calgary, as well as 57 weeklies, shopping flyers and the business daily The Financial Post. The Post may or may not be sold separately from the other Sun properties.
