QUAKER OATS CONSOLIDATES ACCOUNTS
By Adnews Staff
U.S.-based Quaker Oats Co. has consolidated its Gatorade and Snapple business with Foote, Cone & Belding of Chicago. For Canada this means advertising will come from a different U.S. agency. Quaker will continue to have its U.S. shop adapt ads for the Canadian market. Since 1983 Gatorade advertising has been done by Bayer Bess Vanderwarker of Chicago, which was bought in January by FCB's parent, True North Communications. Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners of New York has had the Snapple account since 1992. Quaker bought the drink in 1994 and has watched it lose money ever since. Media Buying Services of Toronto buys TV time in Canada and Second Dimensions International of Toronto buys radio. Both handle English and French buys. Martel et Compagnie of Montreal is Snapple's Quebec agency. Martel does original creative and adapts U.S. ads.
