TRAVEL CD-ROM TO BE BUNDLED WITH MAGAZINE

U.S.-based American Express Company has hooked up with CD Direct of San Francisco to bundle an interactive CD-ROM with its Travel and Leisure magazine in September. The CD-ROM will feature articles on 25 different destinations around the world using audio and full motion video. Marketers can advertise on the CD-ROM in three ways. They can have advertising interspersed through an article. They can run an ad with a hot button on which the user clicks to find out more about the product. They can also advertise in the emporium section where users can click on pictures of products linked to advertisers' Web sites. The CD-ROM will be bundled with 100,000 copies of the magazine, which is distributed quarterly to American Express cardholders worldwide. The circulation of Travel and Leisure is one million.
