Transcontinental Media buys Seaway News

Montreal-based Transcontinental Media has acquired community newspaper Seaway News of Cornwall, ON. The weekly paper reaches approximately 36,000 households in the region. "Seaway News is a truly local weekly paper and captures the spirit of the Cornwall area," said Marc-Noel Ouellette, senior vice-president of the newspaper group at Transcontinental Media. "We look forward to continuing the success of the paper and building our portfolio in eastern Ontario." No financial details are available. Transcontinental Media operates 169 community publications in Canada.
