AGFA LAUNCHING NEW SCANNER
By Adnews Staff
The European company Agfa-Gevaert is introducing a mid-priced scanner to North America in July that has the same resolution as one of Agfa's higher-priced more advanced scanners. The new StudioStar machine has a base price of $1,195. It has a resolution of 600 x 1200 dots-per-inch, the same as the Arcus 2, which has a base price of $2,900. Among its advantages over the lower-priced machine, the Arcus can scan transparencies. However, the StudioStar does have the ability do selective color correction and to bring up a full-color preview on a computer screen in less than 10 seconds. New Canadian print advertising for Agfa's line of scanners will begin by August. It is being created by the company's worldwide agency, Anderson & Lembke of New York. Freelancers will localize the ads for the Canadian market and Agfa's Canadian office will do the media buy in-house. In Canada Agfa is a division of Bayer Inc. of Toronto.
