Popeyes begins ad campaign in Toronto

Fast food chain Popeyes Chicken & Seafood broke a new advertising campaign in Toronto this week. The initiative, which will run through 2007, is aimed primarily at young men. The campaign consists of out-of-home, video board, and online advertising, along with free-standing inserts. The creative depicts a giant chicken looming over the Toronto skyline. The campaign was developed by The Brainstorm Group of Toronto. “The world of fast food advertising is a crowded place and we simply weren’t in a position to outspend the competition,” said Steve Nilsen, director of international marketing and business development at Popeyes. “We needed a campaign that could really break through and get noticed. The BrainStorm Group delivered a unique and imaginative solution that also emphasized the big taste of Popeyes chicken.” Popeyes has 33 locations in Ontario.
