Compaq Computer Corp. of Houston, Texas will come out with a new home computer next year, developed in a partnership with Thomson Consumer Electronics of Indiana. A release last week from Compaq Canada said the two companies will "jointly develop a new generation of home entertainment products." When asked what the new products would be, Compaq spokesperson John Chalinor only mentioned one, a PC with a "better TV function" than current Compaq computers. The new machine will be on North American store shelves in the first half of 1997. Thomson makes color TVs, VCRs, camcorders and audio and communications products, under the brand names RCA, ProScan and GE. The company developed the RCA DSS Digital Satellite System. The Toronto office of Ammirati & Puris/Lintas handles advertising for Compaq in Canada.
