Greenest City prepares Idle-Free promotion
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based environmental non-profit group Greenest City, in association with the Clean Air Partnership, will conduct a four-day street promotion next week intended to encourage drivers in the Greater Toronto Area to refrain from idling their vehicles. Promotional workers called “Idle-Free Ambassadors” will inform drivers of the impact on air quality caused by exhaust and remind them of a City of Toronto by-law that prohibits idling for more than three minutes. These workers will also emphasise that idling a vehicle for 10 minutes per day can use approximately 100 litres of gasoline in a year. They will also distribute window decals to increase awareness of the initiative.
