Young worker safety campaign begins in Nova Scotia

The Workers’ Compensation Board of Nova Scotia has begun a third social marketing campaign aimed at young workers. The educational campaign is intended to raise awareness of the importance of workplace safety. This year, the initiative includes two ads that will run in school washrooms, shopping malls, bars, restaurants and youth-oriented publications and websites. The ads direct viewers to a new website at <http://www.notworthit.ca>. “Young people are forming their work habits for life, and they need to know from an early age how important workplace safety is,” said Shelley Rowan, vice-president of marketing, communications and human resources at the board. “This year we want young workers to consider the value they place on their body parts versus their job. While we’re moving away from the gore, we’re keeping things creepy but cool by making workplace injuries real with a twist on retail fashion.” The campaign, developed by Extreme Group of Halifax, will run until November.
