Sponsorship roundup

Specialty television station Teletoon has extended its sponsorship of the Ottawa International Animation Festival as a way of promoting the Teletoon Canadian Student Animation Scholarship. The ninth edition of the festival began on March 20. Teletoon has been a sponsor of the festival since its debut in 1997. "We are committed to providing a venue for students and up-and-coming animators to display their work and teaming up with Teletoon provides the possibility of reaching a wider pool of talent," said Kelly Neall, managing director of the festival. "Since OIAF is the only Canadian animation festival and the Teletoon Canadian Student Animation Scholarship is the only one of its kind in the country, this partnership was a natural fit." The scholarship is open to Canadian students pursuing a degree in animation. Under the new agreement, applicants must submit their films directly to the festival for selection. Nine students at various levels of study will receive financial support from the scholarship. The program will be promoted with online and on-air materials created in-house by Teletoon.
