The Alberta Lottery Fund has formed an agreement with Skate Canada to become an official sponsor of the International Skating Union World Figure Skating Championships 2006. The event will take place from March 20 to 26 in Calgary. The fund will provide $300,000 toward the expenses associated with hosting the competition. Approximately 200 athletes will compete in men's, women's, pairs and ice dance categories. Skate Canada is the national governing body of figure skating in Canada.
