Nestle breaks new ads for Kit Kat, Aero, Smarties

Toronto-based Nestle has released three new television commercials for its Kit Kat, Aero and Smarties candy brands. The 30-second ads were created by JWT Canada, also based in Toronto. The Kit Kat ad, called "Socialites," shows a mother and daughter wearing themselves out with spa treatments, fashion decisions and party attendance, leading them to taking a break with a Kit Kat. The ad ends with a voiceover saying, "If they deserve a break, you certainly do." The Aero commercial depicts two women eating an Aero bar and wondering who came up with the idea for the bubbles in the chocolate. They are then interrupted by an annoyed co-worker. One woman says to the other, with her mouth full, "Someone hasn't felt the de bubbos melt today." The Smarties ad shows two men sorting Smarties behind a stack of books in a library. When a woman walks by, one man offers to tell her future with the candy through her choice of colour. She picks out all the red Smarties, then scoops up the rest and walks away. The other man asks his friend if he is upset. He says, "She said it could be love." The national campaign will air in English and French. The French-language adaptation was handled by Enterprise-JWT of Montreal. "We wanted to build from our current campaign success with spots that engage consumers in a way that's in line with our respective brand personalities," said Julien Coulter, account director at JWT. "It's a fun category, so we wanted the creative to reflect that."
