The Toronto-based Responsible Gambling Council will release a new television commercial this week aimed at young adults between the ages of 18 and 24. According to the organization, this is the group most likely to develop a gambling problem. The 30-second commercial will air for six weeks in Ontario. It directs friends of people engaged in gambling to a website at <http://www.friends4friends.ca> for information on how to recognize the signs of a gambling problem. "Thousands of young people have visited the friends4friends site since its launch," said Jon Kelly, CEO of the council. "Now, with the support of the Ministry of Health Promotion, we will be able to reach a wider audience through television. It is critical to provide young adults with support to make informed decisions. This spot will help us deliver the problem gambling prevention message in a way that makes people stop and think." The commercial will be supported with posters and transit ads. The campaign was created by Fuel Advertising of Toronto.
