Teletoon readies February promotions

Toronto-based specialty channel Teletoon will conduct three new joint promotions in February. The first, called the "Exo-Force Time to Power Up" contest, will be conducted on behalf of Lego. This will be the first time Lego has undertaken such a promotion with Teletoon. The effort, aimed at boys aged six to 12, is in support of the company's Exo-Force product line. The contest will be promoted with five commercials that will air daily during the "Kapow!" block of action programming. The five ads taken together will tell a four-minute story featuring the product. The ads will also direct viewers to a contest website to enter a draw for one of 20 Ex-Force prize packages. The promotion will run from Jan. 30 to Feb. 12. Teletoon is also running a promotion for the Canadian DVD release of the series "Undergrads." This effort began on Jan. 23 on the English-language network and will begin on the French-language network on Jan. 27. Viewers are invited to visit the thedetour.ca website to enter a contest and to read a blog by the creator of the series. Twenty winners will receive prize packages consisting of a DVD of the program, signed storyboards and scripts and a Teletoon jacket. The contest will end on Feb. 24. Finally, Teletoon will sponsor the Winterlude Snowflake Kingdom playground in Ottawa for a ninth year. The event will run from Feb. 3 to Feb. 19. The Snowflake Kingdom will include the Amazing Teletoon Slide and an ice sculpture of characters from the show "6Teen." Promotional workers will also distribute Teletoon trading cards.
