Laurentian Bank has signed on as the presenting sponsor of the 38th Montreal International Auto Show. The show will run from Jan. 20 to 29. According to the company, the sponsorship is one of the bank's initiatives aimed at strengthening its involvement in the communities where it is present. The show will consist of approximately 95 exhibitors displaying 650 vehicles.
The CanWest CanSpell National Spelling Bee has gained three newspaper sponsors in Atlantic Canada: The Telegram in St. John's, NL, The Guardian in Charlottetown, PEI, and The Daily News in Halifax, NS. All three are owned by Transcontinental Media. The papers will represent contestants in the spelling bee from their respective regions. CanWest CanSpell is aimed at students in Grades Four to Eight. It is intended to encourage excellence in academic achievement and positive study habits. The final round of the competition will take place in Ottawa on April 22. The annual event is conducted by CanWest Global Communications of Winnipeg.
Telecommunication company Telus has signed a four-year sponsorship agreement with the British Columbia High School Boys' Basketball Association. The $260,000 title sponsorship will support the organization's annual AAA provincial tournament. It also includes $7,500 in annual scholarships that will be distributed to basketball players in the province.
