Globe and Mail begins ad agency contest
By Adnews Staff
The Globe and Mail has begun a contest for ad agencies intended to promote the newspaper as an advertising medium. Agencies can enter the contest by submitting a creative campaign for a client designed to run in the Globe. The winning entry will receive $500,000 worth of ad space in the paper to run the campaign, plus support on the globeandmail.com website and in Report on Business magazine. The agency will receive a trip to the 2006 Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival. "Our mission is to bend and break the mould on people's perception of newspaper advertising," said Roger Dunbar, vice-president of advertising sales and marketing at the Globe. "We're putting our money on the table to inspire Canada's creative community to push the potential of newspaper." The contest will be judged by a panel of international agency creatives. The deadline for submissions is Feb. 28. The winner will be announced in mid-March. The winning campaign will begin its run in April.
