Newad, Lipso Systems introduce text message promotion service

Montreal-based out-of-home company Newad has begun a text message campaign for BMO Bank of Montreal to promote the company's Mosaik Mastercard to students nationally. This effort is the first project of a new association between Newad and Lipso Systems, a Montreal-based technology company, that will offer interactive promotions conducted through cell phones. "The SMS program becomes a new content platform intended to reach the Valuable Active Crowd, a very active and elusive group of consumers," said Newad president Michael Reha. "This interactive service completes [our] expertise in indoor advertising, publication, and event marketing." The Bank of Montreal campaign takes the form of a contest called "The Great Canadian Expedition." Participants send a text message to a number displayed on a promotional poster. Users then receive a text message containing a password which can be used to log into the contest website. The site will immediately inform users whether or not they are winners.
