Echo Advertising to close

Echo Advertising of Toronto will close up shop in several weeks unless a buyer can be found. According to agency president Marilyn Sherman, the decision to wind down the firm came from Echo's parent company, CSS-Stellar of London, England. Few details are currently available, but more information is expected later this week. Sherman will depart the company in two weeks to take up a position at CAB. Sherman became president of Echo in May of this year when former president Barry Avrich left the firm. Len Gill, the company's founder, resigned as chairman and CEO in August 2004. The agency's current chairman, Robert Hain, who was vice-chair at CSS-Stellar before coming to Echo in May, was unavailable for comment at press time. His whereabouts are currently unknown. Echo was founded in 1978. Its clients include Honda Canada, Starbucks Coffee, Delta Hotels, Fairmont Hotels, Fallsview Casino, BMG Music, Alliance Atlantis, ClearChannel Entertainment, the CNE Association, and Corus Radio Toronto, among others.
