Credit union Vancity, based in Vancouver, has received the 2005 Marketer of the Year award from the BC Chapter of the American Marketing Association. Vancity won the award for its recent campaigns that tied its brand to its reputation, according to the association. These initiatives, which have included television, radio and print advertising along with direct marketing and street-level activities, were handled by branding agency Envisioning + Storytelling, design firm Karacters and ad agency TBWA. "Vancity has always generated positive feelings towards its brand, but by linking its brand strategy to its strong reputation, the organization has been able to turn those feelings into business results," said Janet Andersen, chair of this year's judging committee.
