Honda Canada creates charitable foundation

Honda Canada and Honda of Canada Mfg. have founded a new organization called the Honda Canada Foundation. According to the companies, the private foundation will direct funds to registered Canadian charities focusing on education, the environment and engineering with the intention of "enhancing the social well being of Canadian communities." The board of directors will consist of management personnel from the two companies. Its funds will be managed by a third-party financial firm. Honda will also continue to fund local community initiatives that are not registered charities, the company said. Honda Canada currently funds Family Literacy Day in collaboration with ABC Canada, the Otesha school program for environmental education and the Formula SAE competition for engineering students at Canadian universities.
