Astral Media debuts information pillars in Toronto

Toronto-based Astral Media Outdoor introduced a new collection of information pillars in Toronto yesterday under the name InfoToGo. The first 25 pillars will be installed around the city's downtown core over the next several weeks. The pillars, designed by Kramer Design Associates, will display information for residents and tourists, along with advertising. The three-sided metal structures are designed with curved sides intended to echo the shape of Toronto City Hall. Three backlit panels will display neighborhood maps and ads. The pillars will also include coin-operated map dispensers. Some will carry LED display screens. "Responding to an articulated need for a self-financing, tourist-information pillar, we selected [Kramer] to create a stylish product that reflects the city's urban landscape," said Luc Beaulieu, vice-president of operations at Astral Media Outdoor. "We're excited about the creative concept and the distinct new opportunities it provides for clients."
