Showcase updates visuals for Fridays Without Borders

Alliance Atlantis Communications of Toronto has introduced new on-air visuals for a programming block on its Showcase specialty channel called "Fridays Without Borders." The materials, which use a seedy motel at night as their visual motif, are intended to reflect the type of programming carried during that timeslot. These materials, produced in-house, include IDs, backplates, menu frames and bumpers, plus three 30-second promotional ads that will run during the Friday night block. The creative shows the desk clerk at the motel watching the activities of the guests on security cameras. They use the tagline, "Like to watch? Fridays Without Borders on Showcase." "The Showcase hotel is really a metaphor for the Showcase brand. Like Showcase, the hotel serves as a stylish gathering place for hip, urban adults," said Sandra Enns Arnell, creative director for dramatic networks at Alliance Atlantis. "Friday evenings on Showcase have always been the timeslot for our more subversive, provocative programming. We wanted to ensure that our on-air look remains as fresh as our programming." Showcase's Friday night programming block includes the show Family Business, Sin Cities, Red Shoe Diaries and an upcoming series called Webdreams.
