DoubleClick launches Abacus Canada

Internet advertising company DoubleClick of New York has created a new service called Abacus Canada. The service, operated in association with Canada Post Borderfree, is intended to assist US-based merchants mailing goods to Canadian customers with order fulfillment, currency conversion and customer support. Abacus will also offer its services to Canadian mailers, particularly with regard to customer data extracted from its transaction database. "A key goal for Canada Post Borderfree is to help US merchants 'internationalize' their Web and catalog businesses to compete effectively in the Canadian market," said Patrick Bartlett, president of Canada Post Borderfree. "By combining our expertise with Abacus' cooperative data concept, we are set to truly revolutionize the direct mail industry in Canada." Canada is the eighth country in which DoubleClick has established its Abacus service.
