Rogers Wireless to sponsor Avril Lavigne tour

Rogers Wireless of Toronto has signed on as the presenting sponsor of an upcoming tour by Avril Lavigne called the "Bonez Tour 2005." As part of this sponsorship, the cell phone company will conduct a contest for its customers, the winner of which will receive a VIP concert package and a meeting with Lavigne. Customers will be entered into the contest when they download a ring tune from Rogers Wireless, play a text message-based daily music trivia contest, activate a new phone on a two- or three-year service agreement or pay-as-you-go plan, or buy a Wireless Essentials Value Pack. "Music, and our relationship with international sensation Avril Lavigne in particular, provides us with a powerful way to reach out to youth and young adults and add value to their lives with access to what matters most to them, right now," said John Boynton, vice-president of segmentation marketing at Rogers Wireless. The tour will begin in Hamilton, ON on July 12.
