Loto-Québec has signed on as the principal sponsor of the 21st Montreal International Fireworks Competition. The event, which will take place from June 18 to July 30, has been renamed L'International des Feux Loto-Québec. "This new partnership, to last at least five years, allows us to ensure the long-term viability of a local tradition that is a vital ingredient in Montreal's summer festival season," said Len Turtora, general manager of La Ronde, producer of the event. "I am confident that with this new agreement we are well positioned to maintain and consolidate, as the years go by, the status of our international fireworks competition as the most prestigious of its kind anywhere in the world." Pyrotechnicians from Australia, France, Argentina, Sweden, Spain, the Czech Republic, Portugal, Canada and the United States will compete during the ten days of the event for gold, silver and bronze Jupiter trophies, awarded by jury. The Societe des Alcools du Quebec will continue to be an associate sponsor of the competition.
