MORE CANADIANS OWN HOME COMPUTERS
By Adnews Staff
Over 47% of Canadian households have PCs, according to a 1995 study by A.C.Nielsen Canada of Markham, Ont. In 1994, 43% of Canadian households owned a computer. Forty-five per cent of the respondents had fax modems, only half of which were being used. About 12% of respondents said they use their computers for small home businesses, compared with 7% in 1994. Over 53% bought their computers at specialty or electronics stores. An even larger percentage said they would make future PC purchases at the same outlets. Although households owning a mobile PC increased only slightly, from 6% in 1994 to 6.5% in 1995, 16% of respondents said their next PCs would be mobile models.
