Travelocity.ca debuts new billboard in Toronto

Toronto-based travel website Travelocity.ca has erected a new billboard along the westbound Gardiner Expressway in that city. This is the first time the company has used billboard advertising in Canada. The creative reads, "Airport...25km ahead. Great Deals...18cm below." A scrolling display along the bottom of the billboard carries a series of special offers from the company. The creative also makes use of the company's spokescharacter, the Roaming Gnome. "This new billboard will become the focal point of thousands of commuters looking to mentally escape for a few minutes and escape on vacation a short time after," said Travelocity.ca general manager Brian Simpson. "The billboard puts commuters on a fast track to a great travel deal and gives them a reason to smile during their drive." The billboard was designed by McKinney and Silver of Raleigh, NC. Media buying was handled by OMD of Toronto. Public relations for Travelocity.ca are conducted by Thornley Fallis Communications of Toronto.
