Globe and Mail promotes expanded Vancouver coverage

The Globe and Mail is promoting an expansion of its coverage of Vancouver and B.C. regional issues with a new campaign. The paper will debut dedicated daily Vancouver pages in its B.C. edition on April 2, including extra political and business coverage Vancouver-based editorial staff. On April 8, the paper will release a Vancouver version of its weekly entertainment section, 7. The section will contain reviews, listings, features about arts and entertainment in the city. The tabloid-sized pullout will take the place of the B.C. edition's Globe Review section on Fridays. "As Vancouverites face a glut of newspaper options, The Globe and Mail will stand out as the choice for intelligent insight, smart coverage of key B.C. issues, and unsurpassed national and international news reporting," said Globe editor-in-chief Edward Greenspon. "While others focus on providing a quick, superficial read, The Globe will deliver the complete package of coverage, analysis, and commentary." The launch campaign will consist of print, television, radio and out-of-home advertising, along with a grassroots promotion. Advertising for the paper is handled by Naked Creative, with media buying from Gaggi Media. Environics Communications is providing public relations.
