Tourism Victoria hires Marshall Fenn Communications

Tourism Victoria, an Australian government organization that promotes tourism in the state of Victoria and the city of Melbourne, has retained Marshall Fenn Communications of Toronto as its Canadian public relations agency. The firm will work to increase awareness of the "Melbourne, Australia" brand, particularly as it relates to the 2006 Commonwealth Games which will be held in that city. "The Commonwealth Games offer us an opportunity to acquaint Canadians with all that Melbourne and Victoria have to offer," said Leigh Arredondo, North American regional manager for the organization. "Melbourne is friendly, welcoming and culturally diverse, with a myriad of sights and attractions that may be unknown to Canadians. We're working to change that." This is the first time Tourism Victoria has employed a Canadian PR agency. Marshall Fenn won the assignment in a competitive bid process involving an unknown number of additional firms.
