Psychiatric research foundation hires McDonnell Haynes

The Canadian Psychiatric Research Foundation has hired McDonnell Haynes Integrated Communications Partners of Toronto to conduct an awareness campaign about the prevalence of mental illness. "One in five Canadians is affected by mental illness and yet research remains embarrassingly under-funded," said the foundation's executive director, Judy Hills. "Our goal is to challenge the outdated stigmas and stereotypes that keep mental illness in the closet by raising awareness of mental illness as a treatable condition." The campaign will consist of print and radio advertising and make use of the tagline "Mental illness is real and living closer to home than you think." The foundation is a national charitable organization that raises funds for psychiatric research in Canadian universities and teaching hospitals.
