Panasonic sponsors New Yorker Theatre renovations
By Adnews Staff
Panasonic Canada has signed a sponsorship agreement with Clear Channel Entertainment that will assist in the refurbishment of the New Yorker Theatre in downtown Toronto. As a result, the venue has been renamed the Panasonic Theatre. As part of the deal the theatre will be outfitted with Panasonic audio-visual and display equipment. The deal was brokered by sponsorship marketing group Wakeham & Associates. "Supporting the new Panasonic Theatre showcases Panasonic Canada's continued patronage of cultural and arts projects in Canada," said company president Eddie Esaki. "We believe the new Panasonic Theatre will only enhance Toronto's reputation as a premiere theatre destination." Clear Channel has already spent approximately $15 million on renovations at the theatre. The work should be finished by spring. The first production at the venue, by Blue Man Group, will open in June for an indefinite run.
