REPORT: PFIZER PULLS CELEBREX ADS

According to a report at CBC.ca, pharmaceutical company Pfizer of New York has pulled all advertising for its drug Celebrex. The company had been using television, radio and print advertising to promote the arthritis and pain relief drug. According to the Pfizer, a long-term cancer prevention trial showed that high doses of Celebrex could lead to an increased risk of heart disease. According to the CBC, Pfizer spent approximately US$70 million advertising the product in the US during the first nine months of 2004.
