DECISION IMMINENT ON CLEARNET ACCOUNT
By Adnews Staff
Clearnet Communications of Pickering, Ont. will make an ad agency selection by the end of the month, communications and advertising director Rick Seifeddine told Adnews this week. He has a short list but won't say who is on it, nor how many agencies are in the running. Clearnet will have to decide whether to use the agency about to be chosen for its business communications network and its personal communications service, or just for the business communications network. If the latter is decided, another competition will be held for the PCS account. The business communications network is launching in mid-1996. It is an operation based on a cellular phone which can also be used as a pager, fax machine and two-way radio. The PCS service offers mobile phones that can only be used within 100 metres of a small base station which relays calls locally or internationally. The service will begin in Canada's largest cities in 1997.
