RED CROSS BREAKS DISASTER PREPAREDNESS CAMPAIGN
By Adnews Staff
The Canadian Red Cross - Atlantic Zone has undertaken a three-year disaster preparedness campaign using the tagline, "Disasters are waiting to happen. Be ready." The first phase, which will run for one year, began this week with the release of the first of two television commercials. Called "Hurricane," the ad shows five men sitting in a waiting room. Each wears a black T-shirt with the name of a natural disaster written on it: hurricane, flood, fire, blackout and ice storm. The copy "Disasters are waiting to happen" appears. A man with a clip board enters and points to the man in the "hurricane" shirt. The ad ends with the words "Be ready" and pictures of batteries, flashlights, juice boxes, money and band aids. The second ad, called "Flood," depicts a similar scenario. The campaign, created by CCL of Halifax, is being sponsored by Kent Building Supplies, McCain Foods and Royal Bank Financial Group.
